Sustainability is the practical ability to satisfy the basic needs of today without compromising the ability of future generations to satisfy their needs.  Sustainability is the management of environmental and resource systems so that their ability to support future generations is not diminished.

A sustainable society exists such that the ways of living and the patterns of activity of its members are in harmony with the inherent ability of nature to maintain life.

TerraSante Village seeks like-minded people and organizations to join us in collaborative ventures. We have land/space available for persons of substance and vision.

Earth architecture experiments with building methods like earthbag, cob, ferrocement, etc. and traditional shelter like yurts and tipis.  Our goals are attractive, low cost, energy efficient, long lasting, made with locally available resources, bioharmonic, and minimize long term carbon footprint.

Permaculture utilizing native plants, insects and local resources as well as highly productive methods of gardening, agriculture and food preparation/storage which are harmonious in the local landscape, the community at large, and which minimize carbon footprint while maximizing nutrition and health.

Native Seed for habitat re-vegetation/restoration, plant diversity, exploration of native plant resources, and organic materials for our gardens and growing areas.

Water catching / storage via drums and cisterns, swalings to prevent erosion, flooding, and maximize carbon fixation as food and building materials.  A goal of oasification in this region abused by overgrazing, and subject to drought.

Solar and wind energy utilization for use in domestic and transportation needs.  A goal of an electrical grid-tie environment which is robust and sustainably decentralized.  We consider that to be the true local and "national security" issue.

Electric vehicle / hybrid transformation.  A goal to experiment and develop simplified vehicular conversions to electric or electric-hybrid using existing materials and widely available surplus.  We seek low cost, easily upgradeable, repairable, and sustainable.  Goal: let the sunlight meet transportation needs, with electric vehicles as backup to well service.

Native Arts & Lifeways as a connection to our ancestors and indigenous ways as a template for human sustainability.  With the idea that those life ways do have some wisdom to offer us in the present.  Learning to walk in balance, traditional storytelling, music, games, crafts, ceremonies, hunting, harvesting, and ancient sustainable ways of earthkeeping...

Service to the future, through the identification and implementation of key methods and experimentations in optimization.  With the goal of sharing this knowledge to the benefit of all.

Communication with Terrasante community as an example of citizens acting together, to solve the sustainability issues we face.  We seek to identify and cultivate the personal and social "software" and practices which are most conducive to harmonious community, collaborative action and the realization of peace.
